KIDZ WIZ PADZ Review and Giveaway!

Potty Training....it may just be the death of me! We're working on potty training my 2 1/2 year old son, and it feels like we've been doing it for months. Oh wait, we have been doing it for months. We have good days and bad days, but I still don't feel like we are to the point where I want to take him out of the house in underwear. All of the complications run through my head, how do I take him to the potty with a one year old and an infant, how can he possibly use a public restroom, what happens when he has an accident in the car...and on and on.

Well my questions led me to Etsy and this is where I found an easy solution to at least one of my questions! KIDZ WIZ PADZ by Mulberry Monkey are absorbent and waterproof "pee pads", to protect your car seat or stroller from the occasional accident during the potty training stage. I was so excited when Mulberry Monkey agreed to a review and giveaway because it is exactly what I've been looking for. This PAD gives me the confidence to let my son try to wear his "Elmo Underwears" out of the house.

Luckily, we haven't had to use our PAD for that purpose yet. No accidents in the car seat so far (crosses fingers). But check this out, it works on so many levels. My son is the messiest child you will ever meet. If he was a Peanuts character, he would be Pig Pen. He recently ate popcorn in his car seat, the only way to really get that mess out is remove the whole seat and shake it out. But, when using the PAD in the car seat, I just have to pull it out, and voila, my car seat is clean. LOVE it! (Maybe I should just cover my son in this fabric....)

Before the PAD - So Messy

After the PAD - Lovely, Clean Car Seat!

The KIDZ WIZ PADZ are made out of the same materials that are in cloth diapers. So, needless to say it is very soft, absorbent and durable.  I love that the materials are breathable too, so you don't have to worry about using it in a stroller or car seat during the hot summer months.

When I tested it using water, it really did wick away the moisture and the pad felt very dry. When I poured an equal amount of water into the car seat, it just puddled and never really absorbed at all! The PAD was really easy to clean. I just threw mine in the washer and dryer on low, and I love that they pre-wash all of the fabrics so that they don't shrink when the customer washes it for the first time. This would also make a great diaper changing pad in a pinch, one less thing you need to pack in the diaper bag.

Mulberry Monkey makes these PADZ in all kinds of colors and prints from Dora to Curious George, but the thing I think is genius, is that she will make one in a custom color/print to match your car seat or stroller.

Mulberry Monkey has generously offered to provide one of my readers with a KIDZ WIZ PAD of their choice! You have the option of choosing one that is currently listed in her Etsy shop, or a custom PAD in your choice of fabric!

Please leave a separate comment for each entry, along with your email so I can contact you if you win!

  6. my grandson is 1 and we are trying to potty train him...if he is like my son it will be several years before he decides to give up his bottle AND his diaper or training pants. I can remember one day when my son was little, we were at at event far from home and I realized that he had eaten something that did not agree with him... it was a hot day, and the contents were up his back, oozing out onto the carseat (imagine that smell in a hot car!) and onto me. We ended up having to buy him a new outfit, me a new shirt, disinfectant wipes and a towel to sit on because I had really soaked the seat to clean it. Besides giving him a bath the best we could in a Walmart bathroom lol. $50 later, we were on our way and I sure wish I had a wiz pad for his carseat back then... I would have stuck it in a bag and tossed it in the wash when I got home...and he would have had a clean seat too.

  9. My potty training horror story.... I was so proud of how well my daughter was doing potty training. I sent her to a lady's house from our church who watches her every now and than and I had her in underwear. She did not go on the potty once while there, peed through all the underwear I sent, wet all her clothes.... to top it off, she told me she had to go potty right before we left, I took her diaper off to put her on the potty and in the 8 inches between where she was and the potty was, a turd fell on the ground, which none of us saw. The lady babysitting for us STEPPED on it! And it was on her rug, and my daughter stepped in it... the next time I went over the rug was... mysteriously gone!

  15. I'm nervous about potty training because I'm going to have a new baby in January and I don't think there's any way the twins will be potty trained by then. And unfortunately that's right around when they'll be ready to start, I think...it's going to be a nightmare potty training the twins AND having a new baby all at the same time.

I would love to win the kid wiz pad. I love the monkey tree pattern. I haven't been consistent with potty training because when I need to leave the house I put a diaper on my son because I don't want any accidents while we are out. I know the time when I need to face potty training head on is quickly coming up and the kid wiz pad would help ease some of my concerns and help my to be more consistent with potty training....

  54. I have a hard time deciding-I like the curious George but also might like a custom one. What a great product. Last summer, I drove 3 1/2 hours to visit a friend and my then 2 year old spilled milk all over his car seat. I had to take the car seat apart and hand wash all of the fabric parts at my friends house. Luckily I had planned on staying the night-I had to let everything drip dry in her basement. I put the car seat back together, but I still haven't figured out how to get the head part exactly as it was before. One of these padz could have saved me a lot of headache.

  63. My potty training horror story actually involved a car seat. I had a car seat where the padding was impossible to remove from the seat...there was no way to get it off without cutting something. So, I did my best to clean it where it was...but then our car began to smell. I thought it might be the car seat...and sure enough it was. Under the padding on the very back of these seat were three holes in the back of the seat of the car seat that just let things that had seeped through the padding go straight into this cup-like area. You can imagine how gross that was to try to clean up.

  88. When my then 2 year old daughter was just starting to get the hang of potty training, we dedided to go rent a movie as a reward. As we were waiting to pay, she started screaming that she needed to pee and then went all over the floor. I was mortified, but the cute gal at the video store reassured me that it happens often. She got a mop and cleaned it up. I was a little hesistant to take her in public again without a pull-up on. She is four now and does great. I now get to start the potty training fun with my two and half year old son.
