Weekly Weigh-In - Week 3

Well my friends, I'm sorry to report that in my frugal attempts to not have to buy a new wardrobe, there still has been no change in my weight. I've been trying for two weeks now to shave a pound or two off to no avail. This week I'm feeling a little down about it all and here's why...

My husband and I started Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred, it has been kicking my butt, but it felt good too! I also went on a few walks with my kiddos puting two in the double stroller and one in the baby carrier (Jillian Michaels should try that)! I thought things were going great, but then my 8 week old started getting super fussy. She has been the easiest so far, a great nurser and a great sleeper. Except all of the sudden she didn't want to nurse, wasn't napping as well, and was cranky whenever she was awake.

Sigh, I looked up side effects of exercise on breast milk. There is some research that says aggressive exercise can increase the amount of lactic acid in breast milk which some babies don't like. So I stopped doing the workout, and lo and behold she stopped being cranky. I don't know if the taste changed or my supply or what, but it was a definite difference in her demeanor. And though I want to lose weight I'm not going to do it at the expense of my child.

So....now I need to figure something else out. I am feeling a little discouraged because I don't need another reason to NOT work out. But, I am hell bent on losing weight, so it will happen eventually!

Previous Weight: 165 lbs.
Current Weight: 165 lbs.
Next Week's Goal (Again): 163 lbs.

  1. At least you are maintaining, and I have the 30 day shred and it's pretty intense, maybe you could do something a little less intense and see if that would work. A little bit of exercise is better than nothing! Hang in there!

  2. What if you do different kinds of exercises?? Maybe join a pool and try swimming? Or, I found that I like to do a lot of weight lifting. Nothing too strenuous. I find the chest flies on the floor (like Jillian does) is great for me!

And at least you aren't gaining weight!

  3. I'm going to have check out weekly weigh in site. I just started WW online, and lost 1.8 pounds. I think you should do whatever it takes to insure a happy, non-cranky baby when breastfeeding.

  4. Just slow down. Skip the Shred and do the walking with the kiddo's. Don't worry, breast feeding is a hell of a lot more important right now then losing weight quickly or even at all. Just start toning up and don't worry. It'll happen in due time, kiddo's are always first and foremost. Good luck and take care. God Bless you and your family.

  6. At least you didn't gain. Yea the 30 day shred is tough. I was actually doing it and ended up getting dizzy and stuff, then found out I was preggo. LOL! Maybe just trying light walking nothing too strenuous. There is this good video Walk Away the Pounds. I need to start doing that.

  7. Wow I never thought about that. I breastfeed too! Maintaining is always good! Plus you could be gaining muscle so it cancels out the weight loss on the scale!:-) Right!!
