We Cut Up Our Credit Cards....Ahhhh!

So since January we've been making mega payments towards our credit card debt. We've figured out how to live frugally and are still working on cutting expenses. But, we've started to become a little lax over the past month, putting $10 on a card here or justifying eating out for whatever reason just one extra time, etc.

I checked out a copy of The Total Money Makeover, by Dave Ramsey from our local library and read the thing in two days. I couldn't put it down! It gave us the kick in the butt to get back on the wagon that we really needed. So last night we bit the bullet and finally cut up our credit cards! Well, the hubs couldn't get past the idea of cutting them all up, so we cut all up but one and then froze one in a giant block of ice. Ridiculous I know, but it ensures that we can get it in a true emergency, but it will be some work to get it out. Once we have paid off all the cards, my husband agreed that we can cut that one up too. Ramsey says, "Live like no one else, so later you can live like no one else", so that is what we intend to do and hopefully our last credit card payment ever will be September 30th!

After the cards, it will take us a little over a year to pay off the rest of our debt, which includes student loans, a loan from my mom, and medical bills from our Clarebear's birth, but then we will be free and clear forever!!! I can't wait for that moment!
