Anyway, what does this have to do with being frugal? Let me explain...
A few weeks ago we had our little Clarebear baptized. I was picking up some groceries at Wal-mart and saw this cute dress. First I thought, "wow am I really thinking of buying clothes at Wal-mart, I must be a mom!" Then, I was thinking to myself, "I would really like to buy a new dress for the baptism, but it really isn't in the budget". Then I realized, no I didn't want to buy a new dress I wanted to fit into the really cute dresses I already have!
I wish I had a whole wardrobe of clothes that fit me now, but I don't. However, I do have a whole wardrobe of clothes that fit me 20 pounds ago. So, rather than waste the money on buying cheap clothing that will fit now, since that is all our budget could allow, I decided it is time to get out the scale and get busy!
You see, I've been pregnant for basically the past three years. I gave birth to our first on December 1, 2007 and nine months later found out we were prego with number 2. Then she came on March 31st 2009, and four months later we found out we were pregnant with number 3! A whirlwind pregnancy later and we were blessed with our third on May 7th 2010. Basically, I've never lost my baby weight from the first little love of my life! I'm not going to say I wasn't overweight before I got pregnant, I was, but since then it has been impossible to lose the weight because I was either nursing, exhausted, too pregnant, etc. And, before my three little blessings, I certainly didn't have the kangaroo pouch I'm sporting now.
So, yes those are all excuses. I mean, valid ones, but excuses. I'm done being fat. I'm ready to feel good about myself, get my energy back, and wear clothes that make feel beautiful again. So, rather than set a pound goal I'm going to make healthier goals which will be easier for me to attain. Also, it is hard for me to diet per se, because I am nursing and constantly hungry because of it.
My Goals
1. Do something active with my kids everyday. Take a walk, dance, play outside, etc.
2. Do something fun outside every weekend (weather permitting). This is a big one because I really hate outside....sorry nature lovers!
3. Exercise for at least 10 minutes every day. I figure I can use our treadmill (purchased for $50 on Craig's list as a birthday gift for my hubby) at least 10 minutes a day...of course that depends upon getting 10 minutes to myself.
4. Eat smaller portions. I have a big problem with this because in my family you ate fast so you could get seconds before the food was gone. Thus, I know I need to work on this. Plus more leftovers is definitely frugal!
5. Stop the negative self-talk, it certainly isn't helping!
Finally, I am linking up with "Weekly Weigh-In" over at Marvelous Mommy. I figure this will keep me honest and give me a little more incentive since I know I'm going to have to show you my progress or lack there of.
So, here is my scale picture! I know, I really need a pedicure, and don't you just love those flip flop tan lines!
Today's Weight - 165 lbs.
My Goal Weight For Next Week - 162 lbs.
And, here is a picture of the outfit I want to be able to wear when this is all done! Maybe it is not the most fashion forward thing you've ever seen but it is what makes me feel good!
You can do it! Oh do I know the feeling of being hungary all. the.time. My youngest is 4.5 months old and there are still days I feel like a never ending pit and milk cow.
ReplyDeleteYou can do it :) I need to do the same
ReplyDeleteThanks for the bloggy love ladies! =)
ReplyDeleteThe whole time I was in child bearing mode, I was overweight, but now that I am waaaaay past that time period, I still fight it. If you can get in the habit of things now, you will be successful for the rest of your life. I'm betting you can do this.
ReplyDeleteI am only 5'2 as well. I weight 140 so maybe we can do this together.

ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say your not alone I weigh a little more than you and am only 5'3 1/2. But I have had a kid every year you did except this year. I tell ya it's hard. I have lost only 4 lbs since having my 13 month old. I am a sahm of 6 kids. It is harder too the older you get.So, I am so with you in this journey to lose weight!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!!! I'm so glad you linked up today! Oh and I love the flip-flop tan lines!! I'm a flip-flop person too! I just don't have the tan lines bc I haven't been out in the sun! It's too hot! lol
ReplyDeleteYAY for linking up. It does keep you honest. I have flip flop tan lines in my picture too. They are a little less noticeable because they are so thick.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and you can do it!
Good luck and welcome to the weigh in!
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for a short exercise, the 30 Day Shred is only 20 minutes long (with warm up/cool down). I liked it while I did it, but I have a really bad knee, so there was too much jumping for me.
I have a whole tote of skinny clothes, nice brand name clothes upstairs just calling my name, but for now I have to wear my Walmart/Goodwill clothes because it's all I have. I totally feel you pain. I love your outfit, I have an outfit that I want to fit into, it's a really nice tank top and a pair of cute shorts that I have never worn, it's upstairs in that tote...lol. I'm stopping by from Marvelous Mommy, I'm Mary from Lil Bit of Us, and I look forward to seeing your progress!!
ReplyDeleteI too have tan lines on my feet!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your progress with Marvelous Mommy Amy. I am doing it too and its SO much fun having people to be positive in our weight loss journey.
