Walgreens Deals for the Week of 4/11

Here is the scoop on Walgreens... they have great deals and freebies, but not so informed employees. If there is anything I've learned over the past few months we know much more about their coupon policies than they do! So before you read the amazing freebies this week, make sure you read the explination of how to use your coupons at Walgreens.

Register Rewards - Register Rewards or (RR) are coupons that print out on a catalina machine (new fancy couponing lingo) at the end of your transaction. It is like receiving cash in hand for your next purchase. For example if the deal says you get a $2 RR, you can use that $2 coupon to pay for your next purchase at Walgreens. They do expire, usually a couple weeks after you get them. And, there are some limitations for example you can't use them to purchase milk, photos, pharmacy...it says right on the coupon what you can't use them for. But, the great thing about RR's is that once you make a purchase and receive your first RR's you may never have to use cash at Wag's again!

The Proper Order of Coupons - Walgreens cash register's are VERY finicky. If you hand the checker the coupons in the wrong order, the deals may not work. So whenever you are using coupons remember always hand then checker Manufacturer's Coupons first, then Store Coupons, and then if you are paying with RR's at all, those go last.

Stacking Coupons - Walgreens allows you to stack coupons on an item. That means if you have a store coupon and a manufacturer's coupon for the same item, you can use them both! Yeah!

Coupon to Item Ratio - If you want to pay with RR, you have to have at least the same number of items as you do coupons. Let's say you have 5 items to purchase, but a total of 7 coupons when you combine MFC and Store Coupons, and you want to use your $5 RR from last week. If that is the case, you need to purchase at least two "filler" items.  Filler items are things like seed packets that are often 10 cents an envelope, or whatever 25 cent candy item is on sale that week. It will add a small amount to your total, but if it allows you to pay with a RR instead of cash, it can be worth it! So 7 Coupons (if using RR) must equal 7 items.

Don't be overwhelmed! - You can do this! The first time I had to ask them to page a manager or tell a checker they did something wrong, I was very nervous. But, as soon as you walk out with your amazing purchase you will feel so good. Don't give in and don't give up. The companies and manufacturers make these coupons for you to use, you are not doing anything wrong!
